President Buhari Leaves New York For London





President, Muhammadu Buhari has left New York for the United Kingdom.


Buhari left New York on Thursday where he attended the 72nd United Nations General Assembly meeting.



The President on Tuesday addressed the gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States.



He pledged Nigeria’s solidarity to the United Nations and solicited the support of the international community in tackling global challenges.



In his address, the President called on the international community came together to focus on the need for gender equality, youth empowerment, social inclusion, and the promotion of education, creativity, and innovation. The frontiers of good governance, democracy including holding free and fair elections, and enthronement of the rule of law are expanding everywhere, especially in Africa.



“Our faith in democracy remains firm and unshaken. Our regional organisation ECOWAS came together to uphold democratic principles in The Gambia – as we had done previously in Cote D’Ivoire.



“Through our individual national efforts, state institutions are being strengthened to promote accountability, and to combat corruption and asset recovery. These can only be achieved through the international community cooperating and providing critical assistance and material support. We shall also cooperate in addressing the growing transnational crimes such as forced labour, modern-day slavery, human trafficking, and cybercrime”.



The President was one of the African Leaders that had lunch with US President, Donald Trump and also held meetings with the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Gueterres and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

ASUU Announces ‘Conditional Suspension’ Of Strike (See)







The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a conditional suspension of it nationwide industrial action.

ASUU’s decision followed a reconciliation meeting with a Federal Government team which held today (Monday) in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The talks with the Federal Government team came after about two weeks following the union’s consultations with its various chapters on the terms of agreement earlier reached by both parties.

India police look for guardians of young lady 'living with monkeys

The state of the young lady, who purportedly battles to convey, is said to move forward

Police in northern India are looking arrangements of missing youngsters to attempt to distinguish a young lady accepted to have been living with monkeys.

The young lady, matured in the vicinity of eight and 10, was found fourteen days prior in a timberland in Uttar Pradesh.

Specialists said she couldn't impart and showed "monkey-like" characteristics. A senior police official disclosed to BBC Hindi she had been playing with a pack of monkeys and impersonating their conduct when police went to protect her.

The young lady was seen by villagers in the Katarniaghat untamed life asylum, on the Indian outskirt with Nepal.

The police official, Suresh Yadav, said the monkeys assaulted his squad when they touched base to take her away.

Specialists said she was malnourished when she was acquired, with long hair and nails, and wounds on her body.

She was also unable to communicate but would screech and initially walked on all fours.

Her condition is said to be much better now, however, and in the long term she is expected to be handed over to child welfare agencies and other medical specialists to slowly reintroduce her to the world.

The hospital's chief medical officer, DK Singh, told BBC Hindi that although she was still in hospital, she would be transferred to the Lucknow Medical College once she had been given a clean bill of health so that she could get better medical care.

Local District Magistrate Ajaydeep Singh has also visited the girl in hospital and has named her "Forest Durga", a reference to a Hindu warrior goddess.

Many in India are comparing the little girl to Mowgli, the character from Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book who was raised by wolves. It is not clear, however, how long the little girl has been living in the forest.

Al-Shabab Terrorists Recapture Town After US Army Retreat

Somali aggressors on Monday recovered Elbur town in focal Somalia after Somali Government and the African Union peacekeeping (AMISOM), powers hauled out.

Elbur District Commissioner Nur Hassan Gutale said that the joint powers pulled back from the town on Monday morning, permitting the intensely equipped Al-Shabaab contenders to return.

"Ethiopian troops under AMISOM and Somali National Army (SNA) pulled back from their bases in Elbur town, a vital town in Galgudud locale today.

"The withdrawal was made by AMISOM to start with, and after that administration constrains as they couldn't remain there alone in light of the fact that they were not readied", Gutale said.

He blamed AMISOM troops for not educating them of the pullout from the town which permitted the agitators to enter with no resistance.









The explanation behind the troops' withdrawal from the town was not clear.

"They didn't advise us that they are leaving and this is a sudden choice. Al-Shabaab aggressors recovered the town and our powers are in a range west of the town", the administration official said.

Gutale included that Galmudug State Administration would make a move against the aggressors in the coming week.

"The adversary amass (Al-Shabaab) will target regular folks, in this way, we are attempting to flush them out of the town and free the town'', he included.

Nearby inhabitants said the aggressors who have pursued close day by day assaults against government and AU bases in Somalia lifted their dark flag on the top structures to alarm local people about their arrival to the town.

The inhabitants said the partnered strengths supported by tanks and reinforced vehicles were seen making a beeline for Dhusamareb, the local capital of Galgaduud district.

The united powers have been in Elbur town since 2014 after a few inhabitants had fled the town because of dread perpetrated by the guerillas.

According to Indian Times, Seerat Dhillon, the prime accused in Ekam Singh’s murder case, on Monday confessed to the police that she shot her husband dead.
In her preliminary interrogation after her arrest on Sunday evening, Seerat had told the police that she fired at him in a fit of rage late at Saturday night. At that time, her brother Vinay Pratap and his friend Jagat Singh, too, were present there.
A local court on Monday sent her to police custody for two days for further interrogation.
The police on Monday added Jagat Singh’s name in the FIR as a conspirator. He hails from Bathinda. Both Vinay Pratap and Jagat Singh are at large. Seerat’s mother Jaswinder Kaur, also an accused in the FIR, too, is absconding.
“She had narrated us the circumstances in which Ekam was murdered. She told us that Ekam and Vinay did not get along well. On Saturday night, Vinay and Jagat had come to see her at her home. Ekam reached late and started arguing with them. A scuffle broke out between Ekam and Seerat. She alleged that Ekam pulled his mauser from the almirah and pointed toward her and threatened to kill her and Vinay,” said SP (city) Parminder Singh Bhandal.
“She added that Ekam used to doubt her character, which was one of the reasons for frequent quarrels between them. Ekam had barred Vinay’s entry into his house. So, Ekam got infuriated on seeing Vinay there. She told us that she snatched the mauser from Ekam’s hands and pulled the trigger.”
SP Bhandal added “that all three, Vinay Pratap, Seerat and Jagat Singh, then washed the blood and packed Ekam’s body in the suitcase. But Seerat could not spot the BMW car’s keys and, therefore, they postponed their plan to dispose of Ekam’s body till morning. When Seerat’s landlord went out of home for his morning walk, she dragged the suitcase downstairs alone. This was the time when the autorickshaw driver spotted her and while helping her put the suitcase in the car got bloodstains on his hands. Later, he informed the police.
“Ekam’s 11-year-old son Gurniwas also told us that a quarrel broke out between Ekam, Seerat and Vinay. Gurniwas added that he went to another room with his sister Humaira. It was then that they heard a cracker-like sound, but they both got terrified and did not come out of the room. Then they fell asleep,” Bhandal told Chandigarh Newsline.
On Monday, Seerat was produced in the court. When Chief Judicial Magistrate Parul asked Seerat why she did it, Seerat said that she killed Ekam because he used to harass her for money. When the CJM asked Seerat to name all those who were involved with her in the crime, Seerat named her brother Vinay Pratap and his friend Jagat Singh.
Seerat also told the court that the mauser with which Ekam was shot dead belonged to him and it was an unlicensed weapon.
The investigating officer of the case apprised the court that the other accused in the case, Vinay Pratap and Jagat Singh, were absconding and they needed Seerat’s custody to trace them. The IO told the court that they had sent teams to various places in Punjab and neighbouring states to nab the accused. He added that teams were also sent to Abul Khurana, the native village of Seerat’s family in Malout tehsil of Muktsar district in Punjab.
The court directed the IO to conduct a fair investigation into the case and submit the investigation report on the next date of hearing. The autopsy report of Ekam’s body revealed that the bullet had pierced his head that led to his death.

A 32-year-old kidnap suspect on Thursday, narrated to journalists how they kidnapped a middle-aged woman and raped her repeatedly without condom after collecting ransom from her family.

Desmond Ozo and three other members of his gang, namely, Innocent Lucky (27), Roland Ode (22) and Friday Dominion (26) who specialize in kidnapping women and raping them were arrested by the operatives of Edo State Police Command on New Year Day.

The kidnappers were among the 85 suspects arrested by the command and paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Haliru Gwandu, for various crimes in the state, ranging from armed robbery, murder, cultism, stealing and impersonation.
Ozo said they raped the middle-aged woman in question after collecting N2 million ransom from her relations

"We slept with her several times before we released her. We also collected N2 million ransom," he said
When asked if he used condom while raping their victim, Ozo said,
 "I did not use condom when sleeping with her."
Narrating how they were arrested, one of the gang members, Innocent Lucky, said the four of them were driving in their car along Sapele Road, when policemen on patrol stopped and arrested them.
